Monjardín Sheltered Accommodation

The Monjardín Sheltered Accommodation is in Sarriguren. It is designed for people with mild or moderate disabilities who are independent and have developed skills that allow them live independently with the support of monitors.

These assisted-living facilities are an option for people with a moderate level of disability, encouraging relationships and cohabitation in a family-type setting, giving users the highest possible level of independence.

They receive care and attention 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. This means that residents can carry out everyday tasks as though they were at home, which includes cleaning and caring for the rooms, personal hygiene, caring for their clothes, dealing with household waste and personal shopping. With minimal supervision and a high quality of life, users have the resources they need to lead a fully independent life and can integrate, as naturally as possible, in the surrounding environment, both inside and especially outside the centre.

Many work in occupational centres, decide for themselves when to go out and even come back to the flat. They use public transport, are able to manage money and go shopping, and have sentimental relationships. There are provided with educational workshops for cognitive stimulation and life management skills, as well as leisure activities which form part of an independent lifestyle. In the best of cases, users are eventually able to move into completely private accommodation and require no further help.

The Monjardín day centre is owned by the Gobierno de Navarra and is managed by DomusVi. Only subsidised places are available.
